When the Strong One Gets Tired

There is always one.

The person everyone calls when something goes wrong. The one who knows what to do, who stays calm when everyone else is falling apart, who finds a solution even when there doesn't seem to be one.

The strong one.

Perhaps that person is you.

People become so accustomed to your strength that they sometimes forget it costs you something. They see you carrying the weight, but because you carry it so well, they don't always notice how heavy it has become.

They don't see the moments when you sit alone after everyone else has gone to bed. They don't hear the sigh you never let anyone hear. They don't know how often you have whispered to yourself, Just keep going.

And you do.

Because somebody has to.

But who decided that somebody must always be you?

Who Takes Care of the Strong One?

There is a strange loneliness in being the person everyone depends on.

When you are always the one saying, “Don't worry, I'll sort it out,” people begin to believe that you really can sort out everything.

Sometimes you can.

Sometimes you can't.

And sometimes you simply don't want to.

Sometimes you want someone else to walk through the door, look at the mess, look at you, and say:

“I've got this one. You can rest today.”

Not because you are incapable.

Not because you have failed.

Simply because even the strongest heart needs somewhere safe to put down its armour.

Rest Is Not Surrender

We have somehow learned to treat exhaustion as something to be ashamed of.

We tell ourselves to push through. Try harder. Keep going. Don't let anyone down.

But perhaps there are moments when strength isn't about pushing forward.

Perhaps strength is also knowing when to stop.

To make a cup of tea and sit quietly.

To turn off the phone.

To leave something until tomorrow.

To say no without writing an essay explaining why.

To admit, “I am tired.”

And to understand that those three words do not erase everything you have carried before.

To the One Who Is Tired

If you are reading this after one of those days when everybody seemed to need a piece of you, I hope you remember something tonight:

You are allowed to put the weight down.

The world will continue turning.

The problems will still be there tomorrow.

But perhaps tomorrow, after a little quiet and a little rest, you will meet them differently.

So, close the door for a while.

Let the noise stay outside.

Find your quiet place.

And rest, strong soul.

You have carried enough for today.

I wrote this for the strong, tired ones — the people everyone leans on, but sometimes forgets need someone to lean on too. ❤️

If that sounds like you, this one is for you.

And remember… you are allowed to put the weight down.
