Donna Called It Minimalist. Beady Eyes Called It Something Else. š¦āā¬š
Before there were wildflowers growing wherever they pleasedā¦
Before there were crooked bookshelves, mysterious cupboards, jars of homemade marmalade and a certain black crow offering unsolicited adviceā¦
There was Donna's city apartment.
And it was white.
Very white.
Painfully white.
The walls were white. The kitchen was white. The cupboards were white. The furniture was white.
If Donna could have persuaded the coffee to come in white, she probably would have done that too.
Everything had a place, and everything stayed in its place.
There were no overflowing vases of wildflowers. No stacks of old books waiting to topple over. No muddy boots beside the door. No strange bottles from Aunt Margery's apothecary.
And certainly no crow sitting on the kitchen counter demanding toast.
Donna loved it.
Or at least, she thoughtĀ she did.
The Apartment of a Woman Who Had Everything Under Control
Back then, Donna's life was much like her apartment.
Ordered.
Controlled.
Immaculate.
She was a successful city advocate with a demanding career, long hours and very little time for anything that couldn't be scheduled into her diary.
Her apartment wasn't really somewhere she lived.
It was somewhere she returned to.
A beautiful, expensive, perfectly organised place to sleep before getting up and doing it all again the following morning.
There was nothing unnecessary.
Nothing sentimental.
Nothing out of place.
And perhaps that was exactly how Donna wanted it.
Because when everything around you is perfectly controlled, it becomes much easier to believe that life can be controlled too.
Then one case changed everything.
And not long afterwards, Donna packed what she needed, left the immaculate white apartment behind and drove towards an inheritance she had spent far too long avoiding.
Wildflower Hollow.
And Then Came the Chaos⦠šø
Wildflower Hollow couldn't have been more different.
Flowers grew where nobody had planted them.
Books appeared in places books had absolutely no business being.
The pantry was overflowing with jars, bottles and handwritten recipes.
Aunt Margery had apparently never encountered an ornament she didn't like.
And then there was Beady Eyes.
Lord Archibald Bartholomew Featherstone the Third took one imaginary look at Donna's former apartment and delivered his verdict:
āGood grief, child. Did you live there or were you waiting for surgery?āĀ š¦āā¬š
Donna was not amused.
We were.
The strangest thing, though?
As the days at Wildflower Hollow passed, Donna began to realise something.
She didn't miss the white apartment nearly as much as she thought she would.
Perhaps a little chaos wasn't such a terrible thing after all.
Perhaps houses weren't supposed to be perfect.
Perhaps they were supposed to contain muddy footprints, burnt marmalade pots, flowers on the table, books left open and memories tucked into drawers.
Perhaps a home wasn't something you kept immaculate.
Perhaps a home was something that showed signs of life.
And Donna was slowly learning how to live again.
š¦ā⬠Now Beady Eyes Wants YOUR Opinionā¦
Donna called her city apartment minimalist, elegant and sophisticated.
Beady Eyes thinks it looked suspiciously like a private hospital. š
What do YOU think?
Would you happily move straight into Donna's perfectly white apartment?
Or would you immediately arrive with colourful cushions, old books, enormous bunches of flowers and a slightly unnecessary collection of teapots?

Beady Eyes is listening.
Apparently, he has opinions. š
Welcome to Wildflower Hollow ā where roses grow wild, imagination takes root, and perfectly white furniture probably wouldn't survive a week.
š¹ Want to Know How Donna Ended Up at Wildflower Hollow?
The perfectly white apartment was only the beginning.
One devastating custody case would change everything Donna thought she knew about herself ā and eventually send her down a forgotten country road towards an inheritance, an old cottage⦠and a life she never expected.
